The six day Reading Academy integrates research, assessment, and brain-based instructional practices of the five components of reading instruction: phonemic awareness, phonics, vocabulary, comprehension and fluency. Assessment is integrated with each component. Modeling of mini lessons and strategy instruction uses a Reader’s Workshop model with strategies to engage all learners.
Objectives:
- To apply brain-based instructional strategies that will support all readers.
- To explore, synthesize and apply components of Reading Instruction: Phonemic Awareness, Phonics, Fluency, Vocabulary, Comprehension.
- To use formative assessment for diagnosis and planning to improve reading performance of students.
- To apply instructional strategies and analyze effectiveness for all students
